Frequently Asked Questions
1) What type of weapons can be used?
Hunters may use rifles, shotguns, muzzleloader, Bow, or crossbow.
Handguns are not allowed in Canada. If you are taking hunting guns to
Canada, be CERTAIN that you fill out the US Customs form 4457 with
description of gun (Cameras, Etc.) & serial numbers. (so Customs will have
record that you took them out & didn't purchase in Canada). Also have a
Canadian Firearms declaration filled out when entering Canada to save time
& this will serve as your gun license while hunting & to buy ammo if needed.
2) What is the recommended caliber?
270 cal. or larger. Muzzleloader is minimum 50 caliber.
3) Are there Mosquitos and Black Flies?
We don't have any Black Flies here and Mosquitos are seldom a problem early in the season but can be a nuisance when
it warms up. Bring along a Thermacell if you have one and a mesh jacket/ headnet are a good idea.
4) Where do I get my Bear License?
You will be able to get your hunting license directly from the outfitter upon arrival. The cost of the License is
approximately $300.00 US (Includes license and allocation fees)
5) What is a typical day like?
After breakfast hunters will usually meet up with the Outfitter to go out baiting and checking trail cameras.
This will take up a good portion of the day. Generally a big lunch is served around 2 pm then around 4pm
everyone heads out for the evening hunt.
6) What type of weather can we expect on the hunt?
The temperatures in May can vary greatly. Typically it will be in the 60's during the day but will cool off
into the 40's overnight. We have seen it in the low 30's and as high as the 80's. Layered clothing is key with
a waterproof outer layer in case of a rain shower.
7) How physically demanding is this type of hunt?
At most stand locations the Hunters are dropped off right at the tree stand either by 4 x4 truck or ATV. If
climbing up in the tree stand is a problem then arrangements can be made to hunt out of a ground blind.
